From Aviation to Aerial
Perspectives
I began my career as an apprentice toolmaker at Cummins Diesel Engines before joining the British Army in 1989 as an aircraft technician. Over the course of my service, I worked in a range of demanding environments, including Germany, Northern Ireland, Bosnia, and Guatemala, where I supported the local army in operations against drug cartels. My final seven years in uniform were spent stationed in Northern Ireland.
Alongside military service, I developed a strong connection towards outdoor activities, first as a winter mountaineer and later as a qualified canoe and kayak instructor. In 2003, a serious spinal injury brought my military career to an unexpected end, resulting in medical retirement. The recovery process was long and challenging, but through determination and resilience, I eventually learned to walk again. This experience reshaped my outlook and laid the foundations for the next chapter of my professional life.
Although my career no longer involved working directly with aircraft, my connection with aviation remained unchanged. This passion led me to transition into commercial drone operations, where I combined technical knowledge, aviation discipline, and a clear vision to deliver professional drone surveying and aerial services from higher perspectives. Alongside my commercial work, I volunteer at Fishburn Airfield, supporting private aircraft operations, and I am currently training towards my private pilot’s licence.

Maddie, the DJI Mini 3 Pro platform, equipped with a powerful 4K camera, and a flight time of up to 25 minutes is designed for precise, close-range shots. It weighs around 250g, and its light weight allows safe indoor operation and detailed close-up work.
Maisie, the DJI Mini 4 Pro platform, equipped with a powerful 4K camera, a flight time of up to 35 minutes, and an extended transmission range of up to 20 km, delivers precise and reliable performance. Weighing under 250 g, it is well suited for aerial photography and videography at longer ranges, as well as detailed indoor and short range works.
Trinity, the DJI Neo platform, with a flight time of up to 18 minutes and a lightweight build of just 135 g, is ideal for preliminary drone inspections before deploying the larger drones. Its compact size makes it easier to control in confined spaces, as well as for indoor detailed shots making B-roll footage for videos.
